How to build the perfect house in The Sims 3?

I and my team have experience in building lavish houses in Sims 3 so you won’t have to worry about this stress that is in your mind saving a huge amount to build a big house that you can enjoy with your Sim.
By following this guide you can build cool houses for yourself or someone else if you have the required skill set and other requirements.
Some of my team members have great design abilities which also helped me a lot because I don’t have enough design sense.
Choose the right location
If you don’t choose the right location then it will affect the look, feel, and functionality of your home which you want to build and enjoy living in.
I will share some factors from my side and some from my team’s experience and perspective which you should follow so you can build a great house.
Firstly, you have to find an empty lot on which you can build the house and you also have to look for a good terrain surface which is a leveled one to avoid additional challenges that you can face.
If you are building on uneven terrain, you will need to use the foundation tool to create a level surface for your house.
Thus, the general rule of thumb is to avoid Uneven terrain, Slopes, and Hills, and for surface types avoid sandy, water, or rock surfaces.
If you try to build on these surface types and terrain types then it is just a headache in my opinion but your mind can handle then you can go for it.
Climate: The climate will also affect your choice of location. If you are playing in a world with a cold climate, you may want to choose a location that is sheltered from the wind and snow.
This is why, check the climate whether it is hot or cold in the location in which you want to build your dream house.
Proximity to community lots and other Sims: Consider the proximity to community lots and other Sims when choosing a location.
You can easily access community lots if you choose a place for your house that is near to the town center which will benefit you in the long run.
You should consider this factor before purchasing or building a house.
One of my teammates during testing built a house way far away from the community and town center which he found out later it was not the best decision during his gameplay.
From my experience, you must look for lots with unique features and also consider the future if you are planning to expand your family.
Don’t be afraid to experiment: There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to choosing a location for your house. Experiment with different locations until you find one that you like.
Designing your house
For designing the house you can collect ideas from Google or from any real estate website which you can easily use in your dream house which you will build in Sims 3 after purchasing that land and starting to build the land base.
After collecting ideas from different places you should consider your Sims’ needs and wants. What kind of house would they want to live in? What kind of activities do they enjoy?
What kind of atmosphere do they prefer? And a lot more things that you should note down when collecting and compiling ideas for designing.
Now think about the overall style of your house whether you want a modern house, or a traditional house.
Or you can go with a rustic house design, or something else which you can think of when the word design comes into your mind.
Plan the layout of your house carefully and consider everything in your mind like the flow of traffic from room to room also the rooms should be accessible to all.
Choose the right furniture and décor for yourself and of your choice. Choose furniture and décor that both match the style of your house and your design sense.
Don’t forget the details. Add the finishing touches to your house with plants, artwork, and other decorative items.
Start with the foundation.
Use the foundation tool in Sims 3 to create a surface for your house and if the terrain of the land is not even then for making it even use the terrain editing tools.
I built some houses on even and some on uneven surfaces so I would suggest you guys build your first house in Sims 3 on an even surface and for that purchase an even surface land.
I always build strong foundations and for that, I use Sturdy materials like concrete or stone. Try to avoid using wood or other weak materials to save yourself for later issues.
Build a deep foundation that will help you to distribute the weight of your house evenly.
Then Reinforce your foundation by adding steel or other reinforcement materials which will save your foundation from breaking.
For More distribution of weight add concrete pad footings and as I said earlier try to build your house on a level surface which will help to prevent the foundation from settling unevenly.
Add the walls
After building a strong foundation you have to add the walls for the house with the help of a wall tool and use the mouse to design and create a wall.
I prefer you use concrete material for your walls for more sturdy and strong walls which will make your walls thicker.
I know you would like to add doors and windows to your walls but from my own experience add them sparingly because adding too many doors and windows will make walls weak.
Adding support beams will help strengthen the long walls and if you have a lot of doors and windows it will help strengthen them.
Add the roof
The same strategy and plan for the roof as I mentioned about the walls uses thicker and stronger materials which will help to make the house stronger and sturdier and will last long enough for years.
Thus, you can enjoy living in it without having fear of cracking or facing any other issue related to the strength of the house.
Don’t use too many dormers and openings in your roof as a result, it will weaken your roof and you will have to face cracking using too many doors and windows weakens the walls so do the dormers and openings.
I placed the dormer and opening evenly along the roof sparingly.
I used durable materials like metal and slate and I would highly suggest you use these materials.
Or if you find the material more durable and stronger than these two then use them even if it’s heavy on your pocket or something else.
I used build anywhere cheat to build on any lot in the game. It can be useful for you too if you want to find a level surface so you can build your house.
Add the interior
Now, you can choose the interior of your desire to make the house look more beautiful which will make Eye candy scenery whenever you or someone else look at interior design.
I started with the flooring because I found the flooring work easier and more interesting than the other.
Use hardwood flooring in the living room and tile flooring in the kitchen and for the bathroom as you know this flooring thing has become somewhat like a tradition to use hardwood for living and tiles for the kitchen.
And bathroom but you can use any other material which gives the house more beauty.
Choose the ceiling which matches the style of your house that is in your mind and you have made a visual imaginary look for the house.
Then you select the furniture and décor. You can add paintings, plants, and rugs, etc to make the house look more beautiful.
Choose ceiling and wall colors that will create a warm and inviting atmosphere. I have some tips to make your interior design look enhanced.
I suggest you use a variety of colors and textures which will make your home look interesting and dynamic.
And use some symmetry and balance that will create a sense of order and harmony in the house.
I used lamps and some other set of light sources so I could make different moods in the house as you can use lamps too.
You should add personal touches related to your Sims’s personalities and interests which will make the place like a real home.
Add landscaping
Other than lamps and lightning you can use plants and trees which will make your landscaping look more natural.
You can also add some flowers if you like them because I added them in my house and shrubs too, and they looked great and gave visual interest to my house landscaping.
Use patios, decks, and fences which will add definition to your landscaping.
If you have the budget for fountains and ponds, then don’t miss them out because these things give a touch of luxury and sophistication in the house landscaping.
I used moveobjects cheat to place landscaping objects more freely and easily.
This cheat will give you more control over your layout.
You can also use constrainFloorElevation cheat which will help you to raise or lower the ground for different landscaping.
Finishing touches
I suggest you give some more interior and exterior touches for a more interesting and cool ambiance.
I add solar lights, string lights, and lanterns in those houses which I build for other persons as a builder which make the house look more expensive and sophisticated.
In the garden, you can add accessories like bird feeders, birdbaths, and wind chimes.
Chairs, tables, and um Umbrella will also give the exterior of the house a great look. You can also add a fire pit or chimera and barbecue or outdoor kitchen if you like these things.
For the interior as I said earlier flowers and plants are a great touch to give. Using mirrors can create the illusion of space and rugs will provide warmth and texture to your interior.
For privacy I used curtains and blinds you can use them too for this purpose and for extra styling.
Just don’t overdo anything in the interior and on the exterior side. You can also add some throw pillows and blankets to make your house feel more inviting.
On the roof, you can add a telescope for stargazing if you like. You can pamper your sims with a hot tub in the bathrooms or you add a sauna in the basement for relaxation and rejuvenation.
If you have space left in your home then you can add a gym so you can stay fit or anyone else who wants to stay fit.
