Do you feel like your Sims are all the same? Are you tired of their predictable personalities? If so, you’re not alone.

Many Sims 3 players encounter these common frustrations, yearning for a way to unleash their creativity and craft the Sims of their dreams.

Traits can affect the gameplay of the player completely, you can change your traits to make them more like the characters you want them to be. I will share my and team’s knowledge and experience in this guide. 

With access to traits you will have more control over their Sims personalities, this guide will help you to create Sims with different personalities and better at certain things. 

Enabling TestingCheats

Before changing the Sims 3 traits, you have to enable a mode called “Enable TestingCheats” which will grant you access to advanced gameplay features and options from which you can add or remove Sim traits of your desire.  Follow these steps to enable traits:

  • Open the cheat console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+C.
  • Type testingcheatsenabled true and press Enter.
  • A confirmation message will appear indicating that TestingCheats is enabled.

After enabling you can easily modify Sim traits by using the Shift-click method for the MasterController mod. 

  • Using the Shift-Click Method.
  • Hold down the Shift key and click on the Sim you want to modify traits for.
  • A pop-up menu will appear. Select “Modify Traits for Active Sim”.
  • The Trait Selection window will open, displaying the Sim’s current traits and available options.
  • Click on an existing trait to remove it.
  • Click on an empty trait slot to add a new trait.
  • Click “OK” to confirm your changes.
  • Using the MasterController Mod.
  • Download and install the NRaas MasterController mod.
  • Open the cheat console and type “MasterController.advanced”.
  • A pop-up menu will appear with various options for trait manipulation.
  • Select the desired option and follow the instructions to modify the Sim’s traits.

Modifying Traits using Shift-Click

I always love to modify my traits and for that purpose, you have to enable the TestingCheats mode to modify traits.

This mode will unlock plenty of features that allow advanced gameplay options including the ability to change Sim traits. 

Follow these steps below and you will be able to modify your traits like me:

  • Open the cheat console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+C.
  • Type testingcheatsenabled true and press Enter.
  • A confirmation message will appear indicating that TestingCheats is enabled.

Modifying Traits Using Shift-Click

Once TestingCheats is enabled, you can modify Sim traits using the Shift-click method:

  • Select the Sim: Identify the Sim whose traits you want to modify. Make sure they are the active Sim, meaning they are currently being controlled.
  • Engage Shift-Click: Hold down the Shift key and click on the selected Sim. A pop-up menu will appear, revealing a treasure trove of options.
  • Unleash the Trait Selection Window: From the pop-up menu, select Modify Traits for Active Sim. This will open the Trait Selection window, displaying the Sim’s current traits and a plethora of additional options.
  • Add or Remove Traits with Ease: To add a trait, simply click on an empty trait slot and choose the desired trait from the available list. To remove a trait, click on the existing trait you wish to eliminate and select Remove.
  • Confirm Your Changes: Once you’re satisfied with your trait modifications, click OK to finalize the changes.

Add Traits

Adding traits is very easy if you understand the procedure which I am going to share with you guys based on my very own experience and knowledge.

As mentioned earlier, you must enable TestingCheats Mode and then use the Shift-click method to add traits in Sims 3.

You can consider the Best Traits for Sims 3 if you are planning to change the Traits.

Enable TestingCheats

  • Open the cheat console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+C.
  • Type testingcheatsenabled true and press Enter.
  • A confirmation message will appear indicating that TestingCheats is enabled.

Access the Trait Selection Window

  • Hold down the Shift key and click on the Sim you want to modify traits for.
  • A pop-up menu will appear. Select “Modify Traits for Active Sim”.
  • The Trait Selection window will open, displaying the Sim’s current traits and available options.

Add Traits

  • In the Trait Selection window, click on an empty trait slot.
  • A list of available traits will appear.
  • Click on the trait you want to add.

Removing Traits

One of my team members didn’t like the trait he installed in his game and tried to remove the trait from the game but couldn’t find any feasible and easy solution for it.

I looked and found this method for removing the traits from your game without facing any issues. 

Once TestingCheats is enabled, you can remove traits using the Shift-click method:

  • Select the Sim: Identify the Sim whose traits you want to remove. Make sure they are the active Sim, meaning they are currently being controlled.
  • Engage Shift-Click: Hold down the Shift key and click on the selected Sim. A pop-up menu will appear, revealing a treasure trove of options.
  • Unleash the Trait Selection Window: From the pop-up menu, select Modify Traits for Active Sim. This will open the Trait Selection window, displaying the Sim’s current traits and a plethora of additional options.
  • Remove Traits with Ease: To remove a trait, simply click on the existing trait you wish to eliminate and select Remove.
  • Confirm Your Changes: Once you’re satisfied with your trait modifications, click OK to finalize the changes.

FAQ’s

First, you have to access the CAS “Create a Sim” option then select Sim and Enter in CAS editing mode then open the trait selection window and remove existing traits that you want to delete from your Sims. 

Enable TestingCheats Mode, identify the sim in which you want to modify the trait, then engage Shift-Click access the Trait Selection window, and add new traits into your Sim that you want. At last, you have to confirm the changes by clicking the “OK” option. 

Your testingcheat mode could not be enabled, or you are not in Create a Sim (CAS) mode, or else you are trying to change the pre-made Sim traits.   

You can edit characters in CAS mode, or you can also use the Shift-click Method. Both of these methods can be used to edit the Traits and characters easily so don’t worry let me know in the comments section if you want a detailed guide.
