Is your Sims 3 game more frustrating than fun? Is your Sims T-posing instead of doing what you tell them? Then don’t worry today’s blog post is for you guys.

I and my team found and spent hours fixing the errors and glitches that gamers often face during the gameplay or at the startup.

We’ll discuss the fixes of the most common bugs and glitches and some specific and top bugs and glitches that our team has solved.  

You might have faced crashing, freezing, and other issues and you have faced difficulty in solving those errors or you are still facing them, don’t worry our team has solved all of the common errors. 

As you know Sims 3 is a popular life simulation game, but just like other games bugs and glitches can come at any time.

Some of the bugs are easy to fix but sometimes these bugs feel annoying while solving them, they can be minor as well and others can be game-breaking.

Common Sims 3 bugs and glitches

  • Crashing: The Sims 3 can crash for a variety of reasons, including corrupted save files, outdated graphics drivers, and conflicts with other mods or programs.
  • Freezing: The Sims 3 can also freeze, which can be caused by the same factors as crashing.
  • Not starting: Sometimes, The Sims 3 may not start at all. This can be caused by missing files, corrupted game files, or problems with your computer hardware or software.
  • Error codes: The Sims 3 can also generate a variety of error codes, which can be used to diagnose the problem.
  • Corrupted saves: Corrupted save files can cause a variety of problems, including crashing, freezing, and Sims getting stuck.
  • Disappearing objects: Objects may sometimes disappear from the Sims’ world. This can be caused by corrupted save files or mods.
  • Sims stuck: Sims may sometimes get stuck in place or unable to perform certain actions. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including corrupted save files, mods, or pathfinding issues.
  • Sims T-posing: Sims may sometimes T-pose, which is when they stand with their arms and legs outstretched like a T. This is usually caused by a mod conflict.
  • Sims not doing what they’re told: Sims may sometimes not do what they’re told, or they may perform actions that you didn’t tell them to do. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including corrupted save files, mods, or pathfinding issues.
  • Sims isn’t aging: Sims may sometimes not age, or they may age very slowly. This can be caused by a mod conflict or a corrupted save file.
  • Sims not getting needs met: Sims may sometimes not be able to get their needs met, even if you provide them with everything they need. This can be caused by a mod conflict or a corrupted save file.

How to fix Sims 3 bugs and glitches

These were some of the common bugs and glitches that my team discovered in the game and some of these were told us by our gamer friends.

Now, I will tell you the methods to fix these bugs and glitches that cause bad experiences for gamers who like the game but can’t enjoy it. Here are the fixes mentioned below from my very own and my team’s experience. 

  • Update your graphics drivers. Outdated graphics drivers may cause a variety of problems with The Sims 3, including crashing and freezing. You can check for and install the latest graphics drivers from your graphics card manufacturer’s website. One of my team members hadn’t updated the GPU drivers and faced some graphics and speed issues, then after updating the graphics drivers the game was running smoothly and he shared his amazing experience after the issues were resolved. 
  • Remove any mods or programs that you’re not using. I installed some mods as I mentioned in my blogs such as Clean UI and Add any lot size which caused some issues during my game so I deleted those and found that the issue I was facing was gone, later on I found that the Mod I installed contained a virus and some corrupted files that caused the Mod to make bugs during the gameplay. So, mods and programs can sometimes conflict with The Sims 3 and cause problems. If you’re experiencing problems, try removing any mods or programs that you’re not using and see if that fixes the issue. Or you can change the website from where you are downloading those mods which can contain corrupted files etc. 
  • Repair your game files. Sometimes some big and little bugs can easily be fixed with the repairing option, you can just scan and fix any corrupted files in your Sims 3 files then you are good to go. If you’re still having problems, you can try repairing your game files. This will scan for and fix any corrupted files. To repair your game files, open the Origin client and right-click on The Sims 3 game file. Select “Repair” from the drop-down menu.
  • Start a new game. If you’re having problems with a particular save file, you can try starting a new game to see if the problem persists. If the problem doesn’t occur in a new game, then the problem is likely caused by a corrupted save file. One of my team members was facing a lot of bugs and glitches during the game, I suggested him to start a new game and see if the issues went with it, he reinstalled the game and before installing he also scanned and fixed the viruses that were in his gaming laptop and eventually his game was running great after this. 
  • Report the bug to EA. If you’re still experiencing problems, or if you’re experiencing a bug that you can’t fix, you can report it to EA. They may be able to fix the problem in a future update. Their support team is great they look into the issue and fix it on a priority basis, my team also asked and applied the solution that the EA team suggested, and the problems got solved and the game ran great.

Specific bug fixes

In addition to the above general tips, there are also some specific fixes for common Sims 3 bugs and glitches. Here are a few examples:

  • Sims stuck: If your Sims are stuck, try resetting them. To do this, click on them and select “Reset.” You can also try moving them to a different location. This happens when your RAM is being used heavily something heavy is running in the background or a heavy mod in Sims 3 that you installed can conflict with the game running files. 
  • Sims T-posing: If your Sims are T-posing, try reloading the game. If the problem persists, you may need to remove the mod that is causing the conflict. You can reinstall that particular mod if you can’t play without it from another trustworthy website or EA Sports because they are the most trusted in the mods matter. 
  • Sims not doing what they’re told: If your Sims are not doing what they’re told, try resetting them. You can also try canceling their current queue and re-issuing the command. This can also happen due to insufficient RAM capacity or GPU capacity. 
  • Sims not aging: If your Sims are not aging, you may need to remove the mod that is causing the conflict. This will cause issues with some challenges in the game and hardcore Simmer won’t enjoy being young for a long time he also wants to see and play with his aged Sim to feel what it’s like to get old.
  • Sims not getting needs met: If your Sims are not getting their needs met, try making sure that they have everything they need. You may also need to remove the mod that is causing the conflict. Most of the time it can be an “Add any lot size” mod 

If you’re still having problems with The Sims 3 bugs and glitches, you can search for help online or contact EA support, my personal experience with them was also great they responded as soon as possible and tried their best to solve the problem.

How to avoid Sims 3 bugs and glitches

There are several things that I use in most of my games and also in Sims 3 you can do to avoid Sims 3 bugs and glitches: 

  • Keep your game up to date. EA releases, regular updates for The Sims 3 that often fix bugs and glitches. You can check for and install updates through the Origin client.
  • Back up your save files regularly. This way, if you do experience a bug or glitch, you can revert to a previous save file and avoid losing any progress.
  • Be careful when installing mods. Make sure to read the mod description carefully and check for any known conflicts before installing a mod.
  • Remove mods that you are no longer using. Unused mods can sometimes cause problems, so it is best to remove them when you are no longer using them.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Avoid using too many mods at once. The more mods you have installed, the more likely you are to experience conflicts and problems. If you are fond of playing the game with mods and you feel bored without them then increase your RAM, storage space, and GPU if you have a computer, and if you are playing on Lapptop then increase RAM and storage space. 
  • Make sure that your mods are compatible with your game version. Not all mods are compatible with all versions of The Sims 3. Check the mod description to make sure that the mod is compatible with your game version before installing it. One of my teammates didn’t check the game and mod version thus faced this issue, 
  • Report any bugs or glitches to the mod creator. If you experience a bug or glitch with a mod, report it to the mod creator so that they can fix it. 

FAQ’s

Some of the reasons for glitching are an outdated graphics driver, Corrupted save files, or some mods that can cause problems of crashing along with glitching or you can have hardware problems like meeting the minimum requirements to run the game. 

You should update your graphics drivers and you should check game files if they are corrupted then fix and repair those files, also remove any mods or programs that you’re not using that also conflict with the game files. And you should also report the bug to EA. 

You should reduce the mods if you have a lot of them and close any other programs that you’re not using eventually your device storage and RAM space will free up which will help the game to run smoothly. Also, Defragment your hard drive. I tried to adjust the game settings, even having a high-end gaming laptop, but changing the settings made the game smoother.

According to my knowledge, it has been fixed partially, and in fact, my teammates and some of my gamer friends faced this glitch. It was a bug that was in the game’s code which caused Sims to be more likely to perform mean interactions.
